Doug is a native of Lancaster County with strong family and community ties. He is married to Kelly and their blended family includes Jared, Kaitlyn and Jordyn. During their time away from racing, they enjoy going to the beach, riding 4-wheelers and spending time with family and friends. For the entire extended Esh family, racing is a group effort, Doug's parents, brothers and sisters are a constant support to his efforts on the racetrack and are always there to cheer him on. Doug is a very personable and centered young man, who has strong goals and a great work ethic. He enjoys working alongside the Leach crew and is quick to note that the owners, sponsors and crew of the Leach Motorsports #30 are extremely dedicated and inspire him to continue to grow as a driver.

Doug has developed many relationships within the racing community, bringing strong connections with Weld Wheels, Butlerbuilt Seats, Simpson, J&J Chassis and others to the team.

Doug feels that one of the most challenging aspects of the racing is the fact that he knows that not only has the team provided him with the potential to win with a great car and terrific set up, but also the fact that the sponsors have provided the financial support for the race team to be successful. With all of the above mentioned support, it is important to Doug, that he is the most successful driver that he can be at each event in order to fulfill his obligations to the team. “Dick Leach's main direction for the team is number one to have fun racing and number two to race to our potential amidst some of the best competition in the nation.” said Esh.
